Why was CHF 150 debited from my payment card?
When a cardholder fills up at an ATM with their bank card, an authorization request for approximately CHF 150 is always made. This amount corresponds to the static authorization limit for bank cards at an outdoor ATM and is independent of the amount for which fuel is subsequently purchased. When refuelling with online authorization, CHF 150 is therefore also provisionally blocked on the account, as the bank does not yet know at this point how much will actually be withdrawn. If the bank account is subsequently checked via the Internet or at an ATM, the amount of CHF 150 appears as a so-called earmark until the transaction is cleared. During clearing, the actual amount is debited from the account and the earmark is deleted.
Several days may pass between authorization and clearing.

Fuels
How is the fuel price calculated?
The final price at Petrol pump depends on numerous factors. These can be broken down into the categories of purchasing and freight, taxes and levies and the Swiss trade margin and are roughly as follows (source: Avenergy Suisse):
Transportation costs and trade margins can vary depending on the supply route, location and operating costs and can be different for each filling station facility.
Follow the fuel’s journey to the filling station and into your vehicle’s tank with the following explanatory video Fuel price.
Is the fuel the same in summer and winter?
Fuels have different properties in summer and winter. In the case of Petrol this is primarily the volatility and in the case of Diesel the cold resistance. Well-balanced compositions and additives in the fuel make the tank filling suitable for summer or winter to prevent starting and driving problems.
Do I fill up with diesel instead of petrol?
As a general rule, stop the refueling process as soon as you notice your mistake. Do not start the engine even if there are small amounts of the wrong fuel and consult the operating instructions for your vehicle or a specialist workshop.
Just a few percent Diesel in Petrol can lead to premature ignition and damage the engine
Depending on the engine and the amount of incorrect fuel, you may need to have the tank pumped empty to prevent damage to the injection system and exhaust gas aftertreatment.
The good news is that misfuelling with Diesel rarely occurs in practice because the Diesel nozzles at filling stations have a larger diameter than the tank opening on cars with petrol engines and therefore do not fit into the tank nozzle at all. A mix-up is therefore only possible with a few vehicle models.
Do I fill up with petrol instead of diesel?
Misfueling always has unfortunate consequences. In the best-case scenario, only the engine stops. In modern diesel vehicles, however, the sensitive injection system can suffer costly damage.
As a general rule, stop the refueling process as soon as you notice your mistake. Then do not start the engine or switch on the ignition. Always follow the manufacturer’s instructions (operating instructions).
If you have not started the engine or ignition, it may be sufficient to pump the Petrol-Diesel mixture out of the tank. However, if the engine has already been started, it may be necessary to replace the entire injection system, including the high-pressure pump, injectors, fuel lines and tank, which can be costly.
Even if the engine is still running, the parts of the high-pressure injection system have already been damaged because Petrol immediately wipes off the urgently needed Diesel lubricating film. This often results in total pump failure.
The repair is absolutely essential if chips have already formed in the fuel system.
There is a widespread misconception that a little Petrol in Diesel won’t do any harm, especially in winter. This no longer applies to modern diesel engines.
How long can fuel be stored in a canister?
Petrol- and Diesel change their properties through exposure to air (oxygen), moisture and temperature. When stored in canisters, Fuels are increasingly exposed to these influences.
At Petrol, volatile components can evaporate and worsen driving behavior when starting or during the engine warm-up phase. Leaks and the effects of heat also cause natural ageing or oxidation at Petrol, which can lead to residues. It is therefore advisable to replace the contents of reserve canisters at least once a year and to use winter and summer fuels depending on the time of year. The canister should not be completely filled so that there is sufficient space in the event of thermal expansion.
Where does AVIA's mineral oil come from and how is the quality ensured?
AVIA is supplied by the major refineries throughout Europe. AVIA products meet strict quality standards, regardless of the country of origin. The products offered are subject to quality controls carried out by independent laboratories.
What characterises AVIA fuels?
Fuels from AVIA contain additives that keep the engine clean and protect it from corrosion. As a result, the engine retains its full power and efficiency. AVIA offers this additional service at no extra charge.
How can fuel consumption be reduced?
Apart from the use of vehicles with low fuel consumption, fuel consumption can also be favorably influenced by an appropriate and conscious driving style. The diesel engine currently has the advantage over the gasoline engine in that it consumes less fuel.
What is the difference between a petrol engine and a diesel engine?
The main difference between a Petrol and a diesel engine lies in the type of ignition or combustion. In a petrol engine, the ignitable fuel/air mixture is compressed and ignited via the spark plug. In a diesel engine, the air is compressed to such an extent that the injected fuel ignites spontaneously after mixing with the air. In terms of fuel consumption, the diesel engine has the advantage that it is more efficient than the gasoline engine.
How much does a litre of petrol or diesel weigh?
One liter of Petrol weighs between 720g and 775g, one liter of Diesel between 820g and 845g.

About AVIA
How is AVIA organised?
Under the brand name AVIA, 10 independent companies operate on the market and maintain direct customer relationships. At the same time, the 10 member companies are cooperative members of the AVIA Association.
The AVIA Association – whose full name is «AVIA Association of independent Swiss importers and suppliers of ernergy products, Cooperative» – coordinates the joint activities of the member companies through its Zurich-based office.
Further information on the structure of AVIA can be found in the About AVIA section.
Is AVIA an international group?
The AVIA Association Switzerland is not an international group. It is an association of 10 medium-sized, independent Swiss companies in the energy sector that operate under the AVIA brand and joined forces in 1927 true to the motto “together we are strong”.
AVIA is not only present nationally, but also internationally. In the 1950s, numerous companies in Europe adopted the AVIA idea as their philosophy: French partners joined first. This was followed by companies in Germany, Belgium, Italy and Holland. This is how AVIA INTERNATIONAL came into being in 1960. Today, around 80 medium-sized companies in 15 European countries with over 3,000 service stations together form AVIA INTERNATIONAL. Benefit from the advantages and remain independent at the same time – a convincing concept.
Does AVIA have its own oil wells?
No, AVIA does not own any oil wells. The AVIA member companies concentrate on the import and distribution of energy products.
AVIA is a brand used by independent, medium-sized energy companies operating in the petrol station, Lubricants and Energy supply sectors. These companies generally purchase their raw materials and products from large international oil and energy companies, but they do not produce their own oil.
The AVIA organizations focus on the distribution, sale and marketing of fuels and energy products, but not on the production of crude oil. The activities of the AVIA companies are therefore limited to the downstream sector of the oil and energy industry, not the upstream sector such as oil and gas production.
I have a request or questions about a specific petrol station. Which AVIA member company is responsible?
